ABSTRACT
The study have revealed that since the arrival of Catholic missionaries, the lifting of women from their traditional domestic status were one of it main aims. The missionaries tried to achieve this in different ways, e.g Education of women even though it was thought to be an abomination to send women to school, Attempt to teach fundamental household skills, etc. The arrival of Catholic missionaries served as an “eye opener” for the women, causing them to discover more and more the dignity and worth of women, their feminine potential and how to use it for the development of themselves and that of the society at large. It was due to this that the Catholic women organization was started in church. The Catholic women organization is an organization that has become an important channel for female voices.
