ABSTRACT
The larvae mosquito collection was performed in abandoned fish ponds at two location which are Temboga in Ikpoba okha local government and also at BDPA 21st street Ovia North East local government. This was done between June and November 2019, larvae was collected at various pond in each site. This study was carried out determine the prevalence of malaria vector in abandoned fish pond present in these locations, the species composition of these vectors and the threat they pose to the public health. A total of 53 larvae where collected during this study period comprising 36 culex quinquefasciatus, culex tigripes 14, coquillettida spp 1, anopheles 2. In location 1 there was 13 culex quinquefasciatus and location 2 has 23, cuex coquillettida and anopheles gambiae was absent in location making location 1 more species richand location 2 has more abundance of culex species.
