ABSTRACT
The study was carried out to examine the consumption and expenditure pattern of beef, chevon and mutton in Egor, Ikpoba-okha, Oredo and Uhunmwode Local government area of Edo south senatorial district, Edo state. Hundred questionnaires were sampled in the various local government area. The result showed that most of the respondents are female and their occupation and level of education affects their consumption pattern of the respondents. It also that 90% of the respondent preferred beef to other types of meat due to its availability and affordability. The majority of the respondent are traders and their most preferred meat is beef in the study area and they spent an average income of N20, 000 monthly on their preferred meat.
Livestock’s farmers (cattle) are advised to establish their farms in these study area because the purchase of the meat gotten from cattle (beef) will be high.
