ABSTRACT
The art studio as a place for learning and expressing creative abilities requires a comfortable and conducive setting, where the necessary apparatus and equipment are available for a higher efficiency. The textile studio in the Department of Fine and Applied Art, University of Benin, does not provide a conducive environment for students to adequately express themselves creatively. Hence, the construction of the workstation to effectively meet the studio needs of the students.
This project revolves around refurnishing the 400 level textile design studio in the department of fine applied art, university of Benin. A textile design studio requires the various facilities and amenities in order to function effectively, providing a comfortable environment for learning.
This project was done in order to enhance the learning process by providing the necessary features of an ideal studio. This research encompasses the various steps, materials and procedures undertaken by the researcher to actualize the project objective. In the course of this project, a lot was learnt and achieved in the various areas from market survey and carpentry. With the construction workstation in place in the textile studio, it is hoped that students can now proficiently express their creative abilities.
