Abstract

George Orwell weaves his stories mainly through oppression which has become an issue in the contemporary times. In Nineteen Eighty-Four, this issue was explained and a detailed study was done to explore the different forms of oppression. The first chapter is an introduction, it explains the various aspect of findings concerning nineteen eighty-four since it's publication till it current times In the second chapter we point about the various forms of oppression and we focused on subtle oppression which explains the the indirect forms of control, this control does not involve violence nor brutal in any way, we explained the kind of control through victory mansions and the ministries in Oceania. Chapter three explains the psychological form of oppression, as it has to do with mind control and emotional restriction or manipulation. In the novel we focused on language control whereby a language was used to control humans and the language is Newspeak which was formally used to replace English, this language limits the thought and speech of human and also thereby taking away their freedom and right as an individual, and also the family unit a form of language control as families are meant to keep others in check for any means of rebellion suffocating the very lives of humans, going further we look at emotional 36 restriction and manipulation, how humans emotions are freeze and not meant to be expressed, thereby freezing what makes them humans in Oceania
