ABSTRACT

The textile industry has been adjudged to be one of the foremost contributors to environmental pollution. This is attributable to the immense wastes generated by the Industry that are not often properly managed. The study seeks to effectively minimize the extent of environmental pollution in the textile unit of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Benin. A comparative study of existing dye pits and baths was done to ascertain the must effective way to manage the wastes generated from the dyeing process. It is hoped that the construction of the dipin dye baths facilitated with run-off pipes would adequately help to minimize incessant pollution of the textile unit.
