ABSTRACT
The art of learning is more effectual when conducted in a suitable and facilitative environment. The 400level textile students of 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 were confronted with the problem of inadequate space with poor ventilation, lack of washroom, poor storage facilities of hazardous chemicals which are harmful to health, insufficient water supply, moreover these problems impede good studio practice, hence communal initiative of the aforementioned students who proffer a solution to solve the problem.
Comparatively; for an ideal textile studio, the textile students of 2020/2021 embark on the construction of multi-purpose pieces of furniture for the textile studio that would improve learning environment for students to enable students carry out and express their artistic prowess.
With the provision of multipurpose pieces of furniture for an ideal Textile Studio to solve the problem of unavailability of basic studio equipment, tools and furniture in the aforesaid Textile studio, this research will provide for the missing link that will inspire and spike in performance and creativity in the next generation of textile students in the department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Benin.
