ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of conflict management and resolution on employee productivity in 7Up Bottling Company, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. The study seeks to determine whether avoidance, accommodation, competition, collaboration, and compromise as conflict management styles significantly affect employee productivity. Specifically, it aims to ascertain the extent to which these conflict management strategies influence workplace efficiency, job satisfaction, and overall organizational performance.

The population for this study includes all staff members of 7Up Bottling Company in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, with a sample size of 115 respondents selected for the fieldwork. A descriptive research method was adopted, utilizing primary data collected through structured questionnaires. The data obtained were analyzed using frequency distribution, mean scores, and regression analysis. Findings from the study revealed that competition and collaboration positively and significantly impact employee productivity, while avoidance and compromise have no significant effect. Furthermore, the overuse of accommodation was found to sometimes suppress employee concerns, leading to reduced efficiency over time.

Based on the findings, the study recommends that organizations should encourage collaboration and healthy competition among employees to enhance productivity. Organizations should also implement balanced conflict management strategies that prioritize open communication and constructive problem-solving. Additionally, training programs on effective conflict resolution should be provided to employees and management to foster a harmonious work environment. Ensuring proper conflict management practices will reduce workplace tension, improve teamwork, and enhance overall employee performance in manufacturing industries.
