Contact lenses are considered a widely accepted modality for refractive correction, decorative purpose or therapeutic purposes. The prevalence of contact lens related complications are on increase due to rising number of contact lens wearers. Complications which may range from mild to severed eye infection that may lead to loss of sight or damage to the ocular structure. Keratitis is the most common contact lens related diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi or acanthamoeba. Purpose: To assess how contact lens wearers in Benin City comply to contact lens care as recommended by the practitioners. Participants were classified 'compliant or non-compliant' according to how compliant and hygienic they are toward their contact lenses. This study had a total of 99 participants, consist of 70 (70.7%) females and 29 (29.3%) males. Majority of the participants were students (86.9%) while bankers, lecturers, nurses were 5 (5.1%), 6 (6.1%) and 2 (2.0%) respectively. 25 (25.3%) of the participants wore contact lens less than a year while 27 (27.3%) had contact lens experience for at least a year to two years, 47 (47.5%) had contact lens experience for period more than two years. The result showed that majority of the participants are non-compliant. 63 (63.6%) of the participants nap (short period of sleep) with contact lens which showed non-compliant. 88.9% of the participants do not attend aftercare visit as recommended while 86 (86.9%) participants reported cleaning their contact lens after wearing them which showed compliant. 33 (33.3%) participants indicated rubbing both sides of the lens when cleaning and 66 (66.7%) of the participants showed that they do not rub both sides of the contact lens when cleaning.
