ABSTRACT

Electrical resistivity method was explored for investigation in Capitol gate, University of Benin environs in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. The major instrument used was the PASI EARTH Resistivity Meter for collecting data using the Wenner Alpha configuration. This array was employed in view of its reliability, easy operation and cost effectiveness. The data were processed and interpreted using the computer iteration Software, RES2DINV. It can been seen from the pseudo section of the default model, smoothing and the blocky model that a clearer view was seen from the smoothing of the data. This has thus showed a clear image and revealed better tomography of the subsurface material in the study area. The blocky model has also helped to demarcate a sharp contrast between the edited boundaries as noticed in the result presented.
