COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE PERFORMANCE OF ASP FLOODING

SUMMARY

1. Guar gum being the more viscous ASP slug, recovered more heavy oil than Gum Arabic even with a lower weight percentage of concentration in the slug. 2. This shows that in comparison with Gum Arabic, Guar Gum which has the higher viscosity yields higher displacement efficiency and recovery of heavy oil. 3. The effect of Gum Arabic on the resulting viscosity is relatively less because of the impact of alkali which is a viscosity reducing agent.
