ABSTRACT
This study is to investigate the comparative study of the Level of Involvement in Biology Practical of Public and Private Secondary School Students in Oredo local Government Area of Edo state. Three research questions were raised in order to carry out this study.
Data were collected through questionnaire that were randomly distributed to five public and private schools each in the Local Government Area. The techniques used for analysis were the simple frequency, percentage and mean based on a four point Likert scale. The population of the study was One thousand four hundred and ninety one (1491) and One thousand two hundred and thirty four (1234) respectively, but the sample was 100 students randomly selected. Four (4) schools were randomly selected from the thirteen (13) Senior Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. To ascertain the reliability of the instrument, pilot testing was carried out on twenty-five (25) SS 1 students from a mixed public and private senior secondary school.
Based on the research it was discovered that private and public schools involve in biology practical in Biology to a very high extent, private and public secondary school involves in teaching perception of Biology practicals, the problem of teaching and learning environment affect the involvement of Biology practical activities.
