ABSTRACT
This study presents a comparative analysis of the quality of education in public and private secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area, focusing on infrastructure, teaching quality, student performance, and resource availability. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research involved surveys, interviews, and academic performance data from both school types. Findings revealed significant disparities: private schools generally possess superior infrastructure, employ more qualified teachers, and achieve better student outcomes in standardized tests. However, public schools cater to a broader demographic, providing critical access to education for low-income families despite challenges such as overcrowding and insufficient funding. The study concludes that while private schools deliver higher-quality education, public schools remain indispensable for equitable educational access. Recommendations include increased government funding for public schools, enhanced teacher training, public-private partnerships, and community engagement to address existing disparities and improve overall education standards in the area.
