ABSTRACT
Male and female biology teachers in senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State, were compared for their genetic knowledge. Three research questions guided this investigation. Survey research was used for the study. The questionnaire was used to collect data from 30 Biology instructors in Egor Local Government Area, and the cronback alpha formula yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.79. Simple percentage (%) was used to evaluate the data. Table one indicates that female biology teachers understand genetics better than male teachers, while male biology professors have more misconceptions. Table 2 shows that 7 Biology Teachers had genetics misunderstandings < 50%. This suggests that biology teachers understand genetics well. Table 3 shows that male and female biology teachers have different levels of understanding of genetic concepts in cross breeding. Male and female teachers have correct understanding for items 2 and 8, but both have misconceptions for item 14. The study advised seminars, workshops, and in-service programs for biology instructors to help them comprehend the subject.
