ABSTRACT

This study concerning the assessment of community involvement in adult education programmes in Egor local government area of Edo state. Many community members may be unaware of the available adult education opportunities or hesitant to participate due to misconceptions about the programs' relevance or difficulty. Programmes may not be located in convenient locations, lack flexible scheduling options, or have transportation barriers, making it difficult for some community members to participate. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. target sample size for this study was 100 community members and dwellers amongst societies in Egor local government area of Edo state. The instrument that is adopted for the collection of the data for the study is the questionnaire. The questionnaire comprises of section A holding the demographics and B, the research questions. Frequency tables and percentages was adopted in the presentation and analysis of the data generated for the study. The findings of the study revealed that the ways communities are involved in adult education programme includes Community networks and communication channels are essential for promoting adult education programmes and reaching potential learners, Communities may contribute financially to adult education programmes through fundraising initiatives, donations, or grants, Communities often offer facilities such as community centers, libraries, or schools as venues for adult education classes and Community members can volunteer their time and expertise to support adult learners. They may serve as tutors, mentors, or guest speakers, sharing their knowledge and skills with adult learners.
