ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the communicative styles of some language impaired persons using deaf and blind as a focus point. The communication skills of individuals with different impaired people and to examine their learning abilities which influence the development of communication. The goal of this research is to identify effective interventions and strategies that can enhance the quality of life for language-impaired individuals who are deaf and blind. By providing insights into their communicative styles. The findings from the study helped inform the development of effective interventions, therapies, and educational approaches that cater to the unique needs of individuals who are deaf and blind. It was also observed that this can contribute to the broader field of communication disorders by expanding knowledge of alternative communication methods and strategies that can be used by individuals with sensory impairments, leading to improved support and inclusion for this population. The analysis was done using communication accommodation theory and its application in understanding the communicative style of language impaired individuals, particularly those who are deaf and blind. The data used in the study was gathered from three different locations; Charilove foundation, Ihogbe secondary school (school of impaired persons) and Ekosodin. Recommendations for the study was made thus: It is essential to incorporate sign languages and relevant communication skills into mainstream education curricula, Launch awareness campaigns to educate the general public about the diversity and complexity of the language of the blind and Encourage cultural exchange programs that bring together individuals from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
