ABSTRACT

Corruption is the use of public office for purposes of personal private benefits and including the private sector in that he or she who uses his or her position in a manner not in agreement with the laws establishing that office is engaged in corruption. This research examines the concept of corruption and discusses the types of corruption, appraises the causes of corruption and notes the net effect or impact of corruption on the Nigerian society, highlights the legal framework and observes the constraints in the fight against corruption and recommends, makes a case, advocates and indeed argues for the establishment of special anti-corruption courts to try corruption cases and urges the world to recognize, acknowledge, appreciate and classify corruption as a crime against humanity for the cognizable enormity of corruption to the detriment of the masses in the society.
