ABSTRACT
This study is aimed at assessing classroom management and school effectiveness in public senior secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. Data was collected from one hundred and four (104) respondents randomly selected from four (4) public senior secondary schools Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using mean score and standard deviation.
The findings from the study include that teachers used punishment, eye contact, reward and praises, sanctions and enactment of rules and regulation as ways of ensuring discipline as part of classroom management in public senior secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that the level of school effectiveness in public senior secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State is encouraging.
It was also recommended that conference, workshops, seminars and other in-service programmes should be regularly organized for teachers to acquaint them with latest innovations in classroom management.
