ABSTRACT
The study focused on influence of class size on academic performance of students in Oredo local government Area of Edo State. Four research questions were raised to guide the study.
The descriptive research design was adopted for the study. Checklists were used as the instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated and administered to 7 public schools. Data from the checklist were presented in tables and were analysed using physical survey of the available facilities.
The findings of the study revealed that; class size is above the standard/benchmark 1:30. Class size does not influence the teaching and learning process in secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. Class size does not influence the cademic performance of students in secondary schools in Oredo L.G.A. Based on the findings of this work, the following recommendations were made: the government and educationist should ensure that the class size is according to the benchmark as specified in the NPE 2013, school principal should ensure that the students are 30 in each class room which may increase the level of performance, amongst others.
