ABSTRACT
The emergence of Chat GPT has transformed human interaction with AI systems, holding immense potential for addressing societal challenges and providing opportunities in Nigeria, a country known for its cultural diversity and linguistic variations. This study examines the Opportunities and Challenges of Chat GPT in Nigeria. Chat GPT offers diverse opportunities, including bridging language barriers, serving as virtual assistants for businesses, acting as personalized tutors in education, and providing preliminary health advice. However, challenges include linguistic diversity, internet connectivity issues, cultural sensitivity, data privacy concerns, and energy resource demands. Collaboration among researchers, developers, policymakers, and stakeholders is crucial to develop culturally aware applications that cater to Nigeria's unique population. Overcoming these challenges and embracing opportunities can lead to substantial contributions to Nigeria's socio-economic development, enabling equitable access to information and services, and fostering a more connected and knowledgeable society.
