SUMMARY
This study has so far has been dealing with the challenges of Gender Balance in the Nigeria Police Force, from 1999-2019.It discusses the emergence of the Nigeria Police Force, of which the Nigeria Police was formally established in 1861 during the colonial period, as a result of the need to protect colonial interest as well the maintenance of law and order within the colony. Overtime, after independence, the Nigeria Police Force was re structured and the Service was headed by the Inspector General of Police which was later appointed by the President as well as accountable to the President .The Nigeria Police Force, initially was a masculine institution not until twenty five years after its establishment that the Force admitted female officers. Even with the inception of female officers, the number of female officers in the Nigeria Police Force are still under represented in representation of the service, training and posting, promotion and ranks, amongst others, as the service was structured to benefit male officers.
