ABSTRACT
This research project examines certain challenges of filmmaking in Nigeria and its prospects through qualitative analysis of selected Nollywood movies and literary resources. With in-depth research from existing literary works, evaluation, and analysis of specific Nollywood movies, the study explores the challenges that have plagued the industry from the pre-colonial era till now. By analyzing movies like THE BLACK BOOK, IJOGBON, and JAGUN JAGUN, and the filmmaker’s expertise in the creative assembling of the elements of the film, it examines also some of the prospects of filmmaking in Nigeria. In the selected movies, through a thorough analysis of the plot, character, dialogue, sound, and visuals of the films, the research was able to examine Nollywood filmmaker's show of skill and expertise in producing a movie and what prospects they hold for the industry at large.
