ABSTRACT

Music is a subject whose importance transcends that people generally perceive it to be. Most if the people see it as medium that is solely for entertainment. Music is said to be universal language of the soul, and as such, it can be achieve. it's role In disabled children Education for their social, psychological and spiritual development surpasses what mere words can explain. Unfortunately, many parents and childhood educators are quiet ignorant of this and, as such , they struggle in these areas. it is this unfortunate situation that this Research is out to address; hence it X-rays the role of music in the professional competence in music education is through the formulation and application of specific Educational principles such as the nature and relevance of subject and courses that form the curriculum of studies, the content of each competency, and the measurement and evaluation of the entire music education process. Unfortunately, these principles are not sustained in most Benin City Educational institutions and in some cases are they applied haphazardly. The data in in this study consist mainly of interview and review of related literature on the benefits and challenges with the use music in the teaching and learning of disabled children.
