CAPACITY- BASED DRILLING RIG SELECTION WITH THE USE OF A SPREADSHEET

ABSTRACT

AIM AND OBJECTIVE: This project aims to achieve a suitable drilling rig selection based on its capacity. METHOD: This selection uses Microsoft Excel to determine a suitable drilling rig. It uses the rig's specifications such as drilling/well depth, maximum variable loads, and BOP stack as its primary parameters for this project. RESULTS: The results drawn from the method of selection gave a suitable drilling rig based on the project requirement compared to the already inputted rig specifications in the spreadsheet. CONCLUSION: This method can only be used for choosing a rig whose criteria fit in any of the already existing specifications and it is not flexible until some modifications are being done or another software is being used for those special cases.
