BRANDING OF THE GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDIO FOR EFFECTIVE LEARNING IN THE DEPARTMENT OF FINE AND APPLIED ARTS, UNIVERSITY OF BENIN.

ABSTRACT

Theprimarypurposeoftheteachingandlearningprocessistobringaboutdesirablechangeinthelearners behavior through critical thinking. This process does not take place in a vacuum but rather in an environment structured to facilitate learning. A studio being a workstation for artists, when bereft of the needed infrastructures will hinder creativity whichresults in lacklustre performance of the students. The 300 level studio in the Graphic Section in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Benin lacks the necessities required for an effective Graphic Design study and delivery. It isasaresultofthis, that the 2019/2020 graduating students, decided to take up the challenge of branding the studio to make it more suitable for learning. This will be done by providing the studio with the required materials, such as furniture, projector, electrical fittings, ceiling fans, blinds, re-painting, etc. It is expectedthat when these facilities are in place, the studio will inspire andattractmorestudentstothegraphicartsmajoras well as boost creativity both in the present as well as potential graphic students in the Department.
