ABSTRACT

Accurate pressure losses prediction for flow in tubing installations is of great importance in the petroleum industry. Historically, the Bottom-Hole Pressure (BHP) determination was obtained using down-hole pressure gauges, because of the economic advantage and importance of detailed reservoir information which is essential to the petroleum engineer in order to analyze the current behavior and future performance of the reservoir. Pressure transient testing is designed to provide the engineer with a quantitative analysis of the reservoir properties. This present work aims to acquire bottomhole pressure information from well X and analyze the acquired data for production optimization and reservoir management. With a view to determine the magnitude of the formation damage due to skin from pressure transient data, to determine whether the well is a good candidate for stimulation treatment, to determine the effective permeability of the reservoir and to determine the average reservoir pressure of the reservoir. The data were acquired with a down hole guage and interpreted using the Saphir Keppa software along side the PVT data of the selected well. Finally, this work clearly shows that reservoir charateristics of the Well X are in good condition as it has a high permeability and the average reservoir pressure is good. This again proves the importance of Bottom hole pressure data.
