ABSTRACT

Insurgency like other legal concepts does not have a universally accepted definition, the problem with it’s definition has been argued by scholars to be the reason for the delay in the enforcement of sanctions for terrorist offenses, this research seeks to address the issue of legislation and the enforcement of the available legislation for the victims of war crimes especially the young girls and women. The nexus between insurgency and sexual slavery can be gotten from modern day slavery, as in the cases of the abduction of Chibok girls, Dapchi girls etc. Boko haram terrorist prey on the young girls to attract the government attention to succumb to their demands. The problems or best by the terrorist group have caused both physical, mental, emotional and economic hardships, the terrorist group operate a triangular system of violence where they terrorize citizens to pass a message across to the government. This chapter explains in detail the threat that the Boko Haram poses in society infringing on the fundamental rights of citizens guaranteed by the constitution and other legislations.
