Summary of Findings
The summary of findings is presented below:
i. From the result of the panel regression estimations, the effect of board size on firm financial performance was found to be insignificant which implies that the size of the board has no effect on the financial performance of the firms
ii. in the estimation carried out board independence showed a negative significant effect on firm financial performance implying that the more the non-executive directors on the board the lower will be the firm financial performance
iii. the introduction of board gender is a key contribution of this study. The study result shows a statistically significant positive effect at 5%. The results imply that the presence of female directors on the board has a positive effect on firm financial performance
