ABSTRACT
It is crucial that individuals understand and acknowledge that racism poses a significant threat to society and acts as a barrier to harmonious social connections. This research reveals that genuine social interaction between Nigerians and African-Americans cannot be achieved unless racism is significantly reduced, if not entirely eradicated. The researcher has looked at the history of the African- Americans, how slavery came into being, right from the trans Atlantic slave trade down to the abolishment of slave trade. The researcher also looked into manifestations and impacts of black on black racism, how it affects the social relationship between Nigerians and African-Americans in the United States. Hence, it is in view of the following that the researcher recommends these to foster unity between the two groups: Promote education about the shared history of Africans and African Americans, emphasizing the impact of slavery and colonization on both groups. Encourage discussions and workshops on racial sensitivity and anti-discrimination within the black community.
