The findings of the study revealed that a lot of factors determines the level of awareness of diabetes Mellitus among students and this knowledge increases as students go higher in their educational pursuit. Students who are older have more knowledge about diabetes mellitus as compared to student who are younger in age with lite information about diabetes mellitus as older students. Students who are more advanced in age have more experiential knowledge about diabetes mellitus than others younger students, which can be concluded that age to a great extent influence the level of awareness of diabetes mellitus among students. Students from families with cases of diabetes mellitus have more knowledge about diabetes Mellitus and so family background play a significantly role in determining the awareness level of students about diabetes mellitus. It was however recommended that parents and guardian should ensure that their children are taught about Diabetes Miletus as they grow older as it will help they eat the right diets; government should ensure that medical courses are incorporated in various class levels to help boost students’ knowledge about their health; and that government should ensure that the knowledge about health is not restricted to only medical related subject area alone, but extended to other subject areas.
