The study adopts the chi-square statistical instrument for the anlyses of the hypotheses. The findings indicate that there is significant relationship between religious beliefs and knowledge as well as attitude of rural women towards family planning. Traditional culture influences the knowledge and attitude of rural women towards family planning. Consequently, educational and income level affects the knowledge and attitude of rural women towards family planning. This research recommends that religious organizations should be encouraged to teach and educate their members about the importance of family planning. Also married couples should be well educated on the aims and objectives of family planning. Besides, the efficiency and reliability should also be emphasized. In Nigeria, the bulk of the population lives in the rural areas. The government should therefore emphasize modern methods of family planning to complement the traditional methods, provide adequate fund for family planning officials to enable them procure the necessary devices and reach the rural dwellers. Improving women’s access to education and encouraging continuous and constant exposure would significantly increase use of family planning and reduce unmet need.
