ABSTRACT
The study aimed at examining Exposure to the Usage of Hard Drugs in Selected Nigeria Music Videos and its Influence on the Undergraduates of University of Benin. The objectives of the study were to find out the extent of undergraduate students’ exposure to music videos. It aimed at determining the influence music video has on the behavior of the students and the extent to which music videos on television had affected undergraduate of University of Benin behaviour. To gather data for the study, the researcher adopted the survey research method. Findings of the study revealed that Undergraduate’s students of Uniben have been influenced by music videos and they have been exposed to hard drugs on musical videos. The findings indicated that the behaviour of undergraduate students of Uniben have been influenced by musical videos, however, the extent at which they have been influenced is low. Similarly, the findings revealed that the behaviour of undergraduate students of Uniben are unaffected by the influence created by watching musical videos Based on these findings, the researcher recommended that the Nigerian Broadcasting commission should ensure that music artise and the broadcast media adhere strictly to the broadcasting code. The researcher also recommended that the ministry of Health and the NBC should collaborate to educate musical artiste and the audience on the need to refrain from abusing hard drugs. Furthermore, the researcher recommended that just as most music videos promote hard drugs, music videos can as well be used as a tool to spread developmental messages, which in turn will cause and promote economic development
