ABSTRACT

This study dealt on assessment of the availability of material resources and students’ academic performance in public junior secondary schools in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.To achieve the purpose of the study, four(4) research questions were raised and examined. The population of the study comprised of two thousand six hundred and twenty-nine students (2,629) in the fourteen (14) secondary junior schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.Data was collected from Two hundred (200) respondents randomly selected from Four (4) public Junior secondary schools in oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using simple percentage and Frequency count. The findings from the study revealed that chart increase student learning speed. this shows that the majority of the respondents agreed that are student willing to cooperate when their teachers use chart as an instructional material. The use of textbook improves the quality of education students receives. It was seen that Chart, Chalkboard, Textbook, Map had statistically significant and positive relationship with students’ academic performance.it was recommended that Government should provide adequate physical facilities for students in Oredo Local government Area of Edo State. School administrators should ensure that there are availability of instructional materials in schools.
