ABSTRACT
The study assessed the availability and utilization of technological tools in teaching and learning of business education courses in Universities in Edo State. Four research questions were raised to guide the study and four null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance for the study. The sample of the study was 20 business educators and 144 final year business education students in the two public universities in Edo State out of the 574 students using proportionate sampling technique. The descriptive survey research design was used for this study. The instrument used was validated by three experts. Chronbach Alpha method was used to compute reliability of the instrument which yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.87. Questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation. The t-test was used to test the hypotheses. From the results of the analysis, it was concluded that technological tools utilization for teaching and learning of business education courses in universities in Edo State is low, even as the its availability is low; same goes for possession of technological skills by the business educators while the constraints influencing utilization is high. The two categories of respondents (business educators and students) did not differ significantly in their rating on the availability and utilization of technological tools for teaching and learning of business education courses in universities in Edo State based on gender and school ownership hence the null hypotheses acceptance. Consequently, it was recommended that government school administrators, corporate organizations, philanthropists as well as spirited individuals should ensure that there is adequate provision of technological tools for the programme. There should be consistent in-service training for business educators and instructors on the need for the utilization of technological tools for teaching business education courses. Furthermore, teachers' knowledge and attitude to the use of technological tools in education should be emphasized via seminar, conferences and symposia. Finally, recommendations were made for further studies such as effects of computer assisted instruction on students’ academic performance in word processing course.
