ABSTRACT
This research study examines the availability and utilization of physical resources in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo States. Factors such as school facilities, classroom size, were examined to know their effects on the academic achievement of secondary school students. The population comprised of 130 students taken from 1300 secondary schools students in Oredo Local Government Area in Edo State. Data was collected from the students by means of questionnaires. The results were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics. Based on the findings, it was discovered that poor school facilities, large class size negatively affects students’ academic performance. The following recommendations were made to; public secondary schools should be provided with laboratories and should be well equipped, libraries should be built and equipped in public secondary school and local government agencies as well as parents teachers association should contribute in renovating school buildings.
