ABSTRACT

The abstract of this project provides a concise overview of the study on audience perception towards African Independent Television and Ray Power FM programming content. This research critically investigates the opinion of the audience on African Independent Television and Ray Power FM programming content on the residents of Benin City, anchored on the basic assumptions of uses and gratification theory solely. It is important to ascertain the opinion of the audience by conducting surveys, the survey design implemented was a twelve-item questionnaire and it was used to get data from 100 students who were selected through random sampling technique who duly represented the audience who are the residents of Benin City. Data gotten were presented and analyzed with the assistance of tables, frequency and simple percentage. It was seen from data recovered that the study aims to uncover how audiences perceive the content offered by these broadcast stations, ranging from local programs to international programs and to quite a large extent the audience has a high perception of African Independent Television and Ray Power FM programming content. Hence, the conclusion of the study is that although the audience has a high and positive view of the programming content a lot of work still needs to be done. Therefore, it was recommended that broadcast stations should interact more with their audience to know their opinions and how to attend to their needs and satisfy them.
