Abstract
This research investigated audience perception of the influence of government empowerment programmes, a comparative study of N-power and Sure-p. Due to Poverty and unemployment rate that has risen vertically, resulting in social problems of more monumental and complex proportions, the study sought to assess the impact of popular government intervention programmes to help the situation . The objective of this study is to determine whether government empowerment programs have reduced the unemployment rate of youth in the country using the empowerment program N-power and Sure-p. This study is determined to ascertain the individual perception of the impact of some government programs in shaping the well-being of youths in Nigeria and also combating the increasing rate of poverty. The survey method was used and the instrument for data collection was the questionnaire specifically used to generate data for the study. Having served the questionnaire to respondents. Findings showed that 40% of the respondents disagree that the N-power and Sure -p scheme has led in employment generation. While 30% of the respondents strongly disagree that the N-power and Sure-p scheme has led in employment generation. This makes a total of 70% of the population in objection that the N-power and Sure-p scheme has led to employment generation. From the empirical findings, analytical exposition has proven beyond measures that there is a positive and significant relationship between government social intervention programs (Sure-p and N-power) and job creation in Nigeria. However, high unemployment problem still persists within the Nigeria societal milieu and this has been proven by data gathered from respondents. This study recommended the need to have sustainable empowerment programmes.
