ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the attitudes of students towards inclusive education in secondary schools in Oredo Local Government of Edo state and to analyze the differences between male and female attitudes. In carrying out this study, two research questions were raised which include: What is the attitude of students in Nigeria towards inclusive education? What is the difference between male and female students attitudes towards inclusive education? and one hypothesis was formulated which is: There is no significant difference between male and female students attitudes towards inclusive education.
The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of this study comprises of eight hundred and six (806) students in Oredo Local Government Area. Two hundred(200) students were selected from Ihogbe College. The instrument for the study was the questionnaire titled Attitudes of Students towards Inclusive Education in Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government of Edo state (ASIESSOLGAES) was used to gather data from the students. Three (3) judges rated the questionnaire for validity including the project supervisor. The split-half reliability was used to test the reliability of the instrument. The co-efficient of the reliability was 0.74 for the instrument. The method of data collection used in the study was on the spot method. The data were analyzed using simple percentage and mean score analysis and the t-test method was used to determine whether or not to accept or reject the hypothesis proposed in this study.
