ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to find out the attitudes of secondary school students towards the study of literature-in-English, using some selected schools in Ikpoba-Okha as a case study. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The population was made up of 25 respondent from five selected schools in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area which was a total of 125 respondents.
The descriptive research design was used for the study. The questionnaire was used as the Instrument for data collection which was validated by two (2) experts in the Department of Educational Fundations. The reliability of the instrument was determined by the test-retest method and using statistical method. The rating was scored using statistical data to calculate the reliability.
The findings revealed that students' nagative attitude towards literature-in-English is as a result of so many factors such as; Teacher's personality, Teacher's competence, educational and economical background of the students.
