ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the attitudes of junior secondary school students in Oredo LGA of Edo State towards physical education. The descriptive survey research method was employed in the study. The instrument for data collection was structure questionnaire; the simple random sampling technique was used to select a total of two hundred and fifty (250) students in some selected secondary in Oredo LGA. The data obtained were analyzed using frequency count and simple percentage. Major findings from the study were summarized as follows; the students were found to have a positive attitude towards physical education, the students affirmed that physical education is not for only fat people who want to reduce their weights but also for everyone because it is helps students to maintain good health, the students in the study group liked physical education because of the availability of sporting facilities in their school indicating there is available sporting facilities in their school. Based on the findings, the following recommendations were outlined by the research; seeing that the teacher is a factor that influences the students attitudes, the methods and teaching styles employed by the teachers should be appropriate with the Physical Education lessons in order to equip students with the necessary knowledge, students having believed that physical education are of great importance for them and have something to contribute to the advantage of all while participating in Physical activities. Physical education teachers therefore should give all students equal opportunities to participate in different competition so that students can be educated in many ways.
