ABSTRACT
The study examined the attitude of teachers towards students with hearing impairment in secondary schools located in Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State. The design of the study was descriptive survey design. The population of the study was the twenty-six (26) public secondary schools and two hundred and forty-five (245) private secondary schools in Oredo local government area. A sample of 50 teachers was selected for the research using the stratified and simple random techniques. The data were collected using a well-structured questionnaire, the Cronbach Alpha value of 0.761 showed the consistency in the items. The retrieved data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage and Mean), the hypothesis in this study were tested using T-test. The findings of the study among other showed that the shows that secondary school teachers show positive attitudes towards student with hearing impairment, they possessed relevant skills such as proper communication, empathy, and adaptable teaching approaches. Although there is significant differences between the attitudes of male and female teacher towards students with hearing impairments. Educational stake holders should provide regular, specialized training for teachers on inclusive education practices and effective strategies for teaching students with hearing impairments, also continuous professional development should be encouraged through workshops, seminars, and courses focused on communication skills, empathy, and adaptive teaching method.
