Abstract
This current study was aimed at identifying the inappropriate use of relapse prevention strategies of psychiatric patients among nurses in Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Uselu, Edo State. The study was outlined into five chapters. Chapter one of this study dealt with the introduction of the topic, statement of problem, objectives of the study, research questions, hypotheses and scope of study, the significance of the study and operational definition of terms. Relevant literature was reviewed in chapter two on the subject under discourse, theoretical framework and empirical review of related studies were also discussed in this chapter. Chapter three dealt with research methodology which adopted the survey research design, Convenience sampling technique was used to select one hundred and twenty nurses from Federal NeuroPsychiatric Hospital, Uselu, Edo State. A well structured questionnaire was used as instruments of data collection. Analysis and interpretation of data were discussed in chapter four, tables with percentage and frequency and chi-square test to test the relationship between the variables. The findings revealed that the respondents had a positive attitude 72(60.0%) towards relapse prevention of psychiatric patient. It was revealed that this good attitude translated to a good practice of relapse prevention strategies. There was a significant relationship between the attitude of Nurses towards relapse prevention strategies and the practice of relapse prevention for psychiatric patients in Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Uselu, Edo State.
