ABSTRACT

This study was meant to investigate the quality of resources in nursery schools in Esan South East Local Government Area. In addition, this research sought to find out the quality of teachers and teacher assistants in nursery schools in Esan South East Local Government Area. To guide the study, four research questions were raised, question one and two was answered directly, question three and four were formulated into hypotheses. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The sample of the study is 30 respondents of head teachers in both public and private school within and outside the local government areas. The checklist titled “Assessment Of The Quality Resources In Nursery Schools In Esan South East Local Government Area, Edo State” was used for the study. The findings were analyzed using simple percentages, frequency tables and independent sample t-test. The findings showed that the quality of teachers and teacher assistants is high. It was also discovered that there is no significant difference in the quality of teachers and teacher assistants in nursery schools in rural and urban areas of Esan South East Local Government Area. Based on the findings, these recommendations were made. The ministry of education should provide inspectors to monitor and supervise the nursery schools in order to ensure the maintenance of this standard and nursery schools should develop a long term plan for resource improvement.
