The state of mind of an individual that is satisfied with the thermal environment is what is referred to as thermal comfort. The level of thermal comfort or discomfort felt in Akure in the month of December 2011 has been evaluated using 5 minutes intervals observed atmospheric variables of temperature and Relative Humidity (RH) obtained from the data archives of the central for National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA). Temperature-Humidity-Index (THI) was simulated from the variables and classified according to thresholds from previous studies over Nigeria.

The result of the analysis of the variables show that temperature ranges from 15.75 to 32.70 ⁰C while RH ranges between 16.96 and 90.98 % respectively. THI assessment show average hourly thermal comfort to range from 19.5 ⁰C “No thermal stress” to “Extreme thermal stress” at 0700 to 1600 Local Standard Time (LST) respectively. The most dominant thermal sensation in the four weeks was “Very hot”, “Hot”, “Slightly warm”, and “Slightly warm” for week 1,2.3 and 4 respectively.

Case studies of thermal conditions should be considered as input in urban and regional planning, tourism and architecture designs especially in a changing climate.
