ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPACT OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF PRESCO OIL COMPANY PLC IN HOST COMMUNITIES IN BENIN CITY, NIGERIA

ABSTRACT

This study examined the assessment of the impact of corporate social responsibility of PRESCO Oil Company plc in the host Communities in Benin City, Nigeria. The objectives of the study were to examine the contribution of PRESCO Oil Company plc to the host communities; the status of the infrastructure provided by PRESCO Oil Company plc to the host communities; the contributions of PRESCO Oil Company plc to the host communities and the level of socio-economic impact of PRESCO Oil Company plc to the host communities. Questionnaire were administered to a total of 366 respondents, however, a total of 352 were returned valid and the data collected was fed into the SPSS statistical package using frequency table. The study found that the assessment of the impact of corporate social responsibility of PRESCO Oil Company plc in the host communities weighed more to the negative direction of change. The study recommended that youth skill acquisition programs and massive scholarship programs for indigenes of the communities should be introduced.
