ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to examine assessment of fundamental factors negating the implementation of Adult Education programmes in rural communities in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, four research questions were raised to guide the study.Does lack of adequate structure negate the implementation of adult education programs in rural communities in Egor Local Government area of Edo state? Do inadequate human resources negate the implementation of adult education programs in rural communities in Egor Local Government area of Edo state? Do inadequate financial resources by the Government negate the implementation of adult education programs in rural communities in Egor Local Government area of Edo state? Does lack of professional and facilitator negate the implementation of adult education programs in rural communities in Egor Local Government area of Edo State?
The descriptive survey research design was used for this study. The population of the study comprised learners in adult education learning centre. A sample of 200 learners were randomly selected from the population. Questionnaire was the instrument used to elicit information from the respondents. The data collated were analyzed using the simple percentage.
The findings from the study revealed lack of adequate provision of amenities negate the implementation of adult education program. Inadequate quality and quantity personal available for adult education programme, personnel from other field of study handling adult education programme contribute to the negative, the recommendation includes Government should remove any the obstacles to the practice of adult education programme. Government should Examine the various benefits of adult education to individual as well as the nation, it is therefore important to remove barriers to adult education in the nation.
