ASSESSMENT OF THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE USING THREE DIFFERENT BRANDS

ABSTRACT

Cement consists of chemical composition mainly of lime,silica,alumina and iron oxide. The consitituent composition of this properties varies from one brand of cement to another and its important ininflucing the various properties properties and behavior of concrete made with these brand of cement under the same condition the three brand of cement for the purpose of this study is (DANGOTE, BUA AND ELEPHANT PORTLAND CEMENT).the compressive strength, workability and porosity of concrete made with these brands were compared at 3, 7, 14, and 28 days curing age days which was the maximum adopted. Concrete cube made with dangote dangote had the higest compressive strength, of 32.7N/mm2 at 28days of curingage followed by elephant cement as 30.7kn/mm2 and the least was BUA as 21.7kn/mm2. BUA CEMENT produced the best workability followed by dangote before elephant cent The materials, equipment and experimental procedure used inthis work were in accordance with the provision of british standard.
