This abstract investigates the competency of quantity surveyors in value management within Edo State's construction industry. The study explores the proficiency of quantity surveyors in optimizing project value through effective management strategies. It employs qualitative and quantitative methods to assess competencies, includes surveys. The method of data analysis used for the three objectives was mean item score. A total of 269 questionnaires were shared and over 70 percent was responded to. The findings aim to provide insights for enhancing the skills and expertise of quantity surveyors, thereby improving value management practices in Edo State's construction sector. The findings highlight the pivotal competencies essential for value managers, with QS playing a crucial role in this capacity. "Leadership - transformational" emerged as the most critical competency, indicating the significance of visionary leadership in driving value within construction projects. It was recommended that Implementing targeted training programs enhances the competencies of value managers and quantity surveyors. These programs should focus on developing leadership skills, fostering adaptability, promoting collaborative conflict resolution, and improving awareness of value management competencies.
