This research focuses on the assessment of the BIM maturity of construction firms in Edo state, with a view of assessing how BIM matured the construction firms in Edo state are. The objectives are to: determine the levels of BIM maturity of construction firms in Edo State, examine the factors that affect the BIM maturity of construction firms in Edo State, ascertain the difference between the levels of BIM maturity of small and large-sized construction firms in Edo State and to determine the relationship between BIM maturity and the performance of construction firms in Edo State. Using descriptive method, data was collected through well-structured questionnaire. One- hundred and ninety- five (195) questionnaires were distributed and sixty (60) questionnaires were retrieved from various construction firms. The data obtained from the research were analyzed using mean item score and relative importance index (RII) and BIM maturity matrix. The study established the benefit attached to being BIM matured with BIM determining the most efficient method of design as the most significant benefit, lack of management support for boosting BIM initiative ranked first among other barriers and the study revealing that the BIM maturity of construction firms were still being defined and managed. The study concludes that construction firms in Edo State are not yet BIM matured and recommends management and stakeholders of construction firms to develop a positive attitude towards the implementation of BIM, and suggests the use of domestic BIM tools in all construction firms because of its effect on project delivery and performance.
