ASSESSMENT OF THE AVAILABLE RESOURCES FOR THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF ADULT BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAMMES IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

This study assessed the available resources for the teaching and learning in basic education programme in Egor local government area of Edo State. This study intends to assess the availability and effective use of resource to adult learners and facilitators Five research questions were raised in this study. A survey research design was adopted for this study. The population of study was made up of 70 facilitators and adult learners in in Egor local government area of Edo State. The questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection and was designed to elicit the appropriate information from the respondents and a descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation was used for data analysis. The findings of the study revealed that, there is available instructional resources provided for the porgrammes include chalkboard, electronic board, charts, include, letter cards primers, computer and public address system. Moreso, the proportion of the resource though high there is used to strengthen this and take it very high or higher. Based on the findings of the study, it was therefore recommended that, there is need to provide the facilitators with further training and orientation and to ensure that teaching is adequately monitored in order to ensure that instructions are well considered, relevant for the need programmes.
